Summary of 2024

Last year brought massive disappointment to those concerned with human rights. The change in political leadership in Poland has not translated into an improved situation at the Polish-Belarusian border. Nor has it had a positve impact on the public discourse surrounding migrants.

Furthermore, the rise of anti-refugee populism in an increasing number of countries — from the USA to Germany and France — definitely doesn’t help. In this gloomy climate, we had to make several difficult decisions. These included closing our centers in Łomża and Łódź, and ending the school support program. All of this was to ensure the continuity of the Foundation’s key activities, namely the long-term and multidimensional support for migrants, including refugees, who are most vulnerable to abuse and marginalization.

Thanks to the commitment of hundreds of wonderful people and institutions, this was largely successful. In 2024, approximately 6,600 people, including 2,300 children, received Foundation’s support. We taught Polish, offered legal, psychological and psychiatric support, and helped acquire new skills needed on the job market. Our new day care center in Warsaw has become a safe haven for 30 young people.

There is no Ocalenie without people who care. See what we were able to achieve — together:
