It was not an easy year. Old and new conflicts displaced millions seeking safety, while in Poland – instead of solidarity – we observed a growing tolerance for hate speech and open violence against people with migration experience. Subsequent political decisions led to the deprivation of fundamental legal guarantees for foreigners, primarily the right to asylum. Throughout the year, we heard from our clients that they do not feel safe in Poland – even if they have lived and worked here for years.
All of this coincides with a difficult financial situation for the foundation. The reduction of international aid and the decrease in individual and business donations forced us to make the most difficult decisions: closing the material aid point and the second to last of our day care centers for refugee children. The future of many of our activities is now uncertain.
And yet, every day, new people find work with the help of the foundation, emerge from homelessness, obtain international protection, and find a semblance of stability in Poland. In 2025, we accompanied nearly 5,000 people on their journey to a safer life.
Therefore, despite all the difficult circumstances, celebrating 25 years of Ocalenie was important and joyful for us. After all, we have the best community of allies in the world around us. People who do not give in to fear propaganda and consistently stand on the side of humanity. Thank you for being part of this community. Everything you read here is also thanks to you.
